Description:

A soil-borne fungus of the genus Treating Sooty Mold, Infected Adromischus marianeaeCapnodium.  The plant, especially seedlings,  is covered with a fine black mold.  The mould thrives in the droppings of aphids and whiteflies.

Plants that are exposed to very wet conditions and that are covered in honey dew are at risk of being infected by sooty mold.

Treatment:

Environmentally freindly:

  • Burn infected plants and soil.

Chemical:

  • Treat the plants with a  good systemic fungicide for a few weeks, repeat treatments are vital.  Replace the soil if possible or drench it with the fungicide. 15g - 20g/10l water.
