Distribution:  Western Karoo, Found only on hilltops in the Calvinia district.  Winter Rainfall is 150 mm - 200 mm per annum.

Description:  The leaves (400 mm) are smooth and striated with thinner lines parallel to the axis of he leaf. As the leaves mature they turn purplish with white spots and the lines disappear.  The leaves have a broad red margin.

Cultivation:  Full sun to light shade,  light frost protection, drought resistant, min temp -1C (USDA 8 - 10)

Flowers:  The inflorescence is multi-branched with racemes that vary in shade from orange to yellow.  The perianth has a basal swelling of 6 mm in diameter.
