Geophytes
Underground Bulbs are underground storage devices, these plants are made up of a swollen stem base with roots on the lower surface and leaves or leaf-bases on the upper surfaces.

This section covers a few of the bulbs found in Southern Africa (especially in Namaqualand).  These bulbs are usually winter growing with flowers appearing in spring or early summer.
