Bulbs are underground storage devices, these plants are made
up of a swollen stem base with roots on the lower surface and leaves or leaf-bases on the
upper surfaces. This section covers a few of the bulbs found in Southern Africa (especially in Namaqualand). These bulbs are usually winter growing with flowers appearing in spring or early summer. |
