| Description: A geophyte with a small globose bulb, there are several hairy or hairless, spirally twisted narrow leaves (absent during flowering). |

| Flower: The star-shaped flowers appear on a stiff stalk in December to January, they are white on the inner surface and tinged red on the outer surface. The yellow to orange, fragrant and edible fruit appear after flowering. | |
